The Beginning

A Young Mother's Leap of Faith

Our story begins with a single act of courage. As a young single mother, I arrived in the United States carrying little more than hope and an unbreakable determination to give my children a better life. I found work in the fields of California — hard, honest work — but no matter how long the days were, the earnings were never quite enough to close the gap.

With creativity born from necessity, I learned to make tamales from my aunt — guided entirely over the phone, thousands of miles away. Those lessons were more than recipes; they were lifelines. I began selling my tamales outside local stores, and with every batch I found not just extra income, but my purpose. Food, I learned, is love made tangible.

A New Home

Washington & a Gap Worth Filling

When our family moved to Washington, I quickly noticed something: authentic Northern Mexican cuisine was nearly impossible to find. The flavors I had grown up with — the ones that comforted me on hard nights and filled our home with warmth — simply weren't here. So I brought them. Word spread, the feedback was wonderful, and what began as a passion became a calling.

My son built his own construction business from the ground up — the same hard-working spirit that raised us. During one of his remodeling projects, he crossed paths with someone who opened an unexpected door: a catering opportunity that felt like fate. With my husband's steady support, my children's belief in our dream, and that extraordinary chance, Aroma del Fuego was born.

Throughout the years I have cooked alongside incredible people in restaurants and communities across the country — learning the traditions of Indian, Colombian, Salvadoran, and many other cuisines. Each culture I have worked alongside has left something in my hands and my heart. That diversity of flavor, technique, and tradition lives in everything we cook at Aroma del Fuego. We do not just serve food; we serve a story — many stories — gathered across a lifetime of learning, sacrifice, and deep love for the table.
